What is the relevant legislation and who enforces it?
The relevant legislation is the Competition Act 89 of 1998, as amended (the Act) and the regulations promulgated in terms of that Act. The Act was amended by the Competition Second Amendment Act 39 of 2000, which came into effect on 1 February 2001. rnrnThe Competition Amendment Act 1 of 2009, which has been passed into law, has not come into force, with the exception of section 6, relating to market enquiries, which came into force on 1 April 2013.
