PORTFOLIO COMMITTEE ON WATER AND ENVIRONMENTAL PUBLIC HEARINGS ON THE EFFICACY OF THE PRESENT ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT (EIA) REGIME, IN SOUTH AFRICA

The Portfolio Committee on Water and Environmental Affairs recently invited written submissions on the “Efficacy of the present Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regime” from all interested parties and stakeholders in South Africa. The Portfolio Committee intends holding public hearings on the EIA regime, specifically looking at the difficulties experienced with EIA processes and the manner in which South Africa could achieve a balanced EIA regime.
