Diana Burger is a senior associate in the Dispute Resolution Department of our Johannesburg office, and a member of the litigation Practice.
She was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2012 and has been focusing on construction and engineering law since 2013. Diana joined Bowmans’ Dispute Resolution Department as a senior associate in the Construction department in February 2018.
Diana has obtained B.Com Law and LLB from the University of Pretoria.
Diana forms part of a team specialising in Construction and Engineering disputes and has represented some of the major role players in the mining, construction, engineering and infrastructure industries. She specialises in representing contractors, sub-contractors and professionals, both in the public and private sectors, in disputes arising mainly from standard form construction contracts such as FIDIC, GCC and JBCC as well as bespoke construction contracts for large construction projects.
She is experienced in many of the contractual issues which give rise to construction disputes, including:
- Rights, obligations and the assumption of risk
- Delays and disruptions
- The extensions of time and additional payment
- Time barring provisions
- Breaches of contract
- Liability for defects in the works
- Nominated / selected sub-contractors.
Diana also obtained experience in professional liability and product liability related disputes.
