Overview

John is a senior associate in our Nairobi office in our Banking, Finance and Real Estate Department.

He specialises in real estate and conveyancing, banking securities, and general corporate and commercial law.

John has over 11 years’ post qualification experience.  He is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a member of the Law Society of Kenya.

John holds a LLB degree from Nagpur University in India and a Post Graduate diploma from the Kenya School of Law.

Real Estate

  • The developer of an iconic mixed-use residential estate named 33 Wind Chimes being developed on a 1 acre parcel of land in the exclusive suburb of Westlands, Nairobi along a most sought after residential address known as General Mathenge Drive. The development will comprise of 33 spacious 4 all en-suite bed room apartments containing by measurement, approximately 4,309 sq. ft. The high-end apartments will be constructed in 3 towers containing 11 storeys each that is set to transform the landscape and skyline along General Mathenge Drive.
  • Oaklands Properties Kenya Limited (Oaklands) in relation to a project where it is selling several ¼ and 1/8 acre properties in two phases. This includes advising Oaklands on the various sale transactions and drawing up the necessary agreements for each sale.
  • Siana Properties Limited, the purchaser on the purchase of prime property in one of Nairobi’s upmarket suburbs for redevelopment and sale.
  • Real estate ventures for the development and construction of mixed use developments in Nairobi County for Dewbury Limited, Berkshire Limited and Bloomfield Apartments Limited
  • Advised Edifice Limited on the development of Stealth Apartments.
  • Advised Hass Consult (one of Kenya’s leading real estate agents and developers) and Mark Properties on the development of Le Mac, a state-of-the-art 22 storey tower geared to be the tallest mixed-used tower in Kenya. The tower will have approximately 220 residential apartments and 6 floors of commercial space.

Banking and Finance

Ongoing advice to various large commercial banks in relation to securities documentation for due diligence purposes and the realisation of various securities.

Signature Matters

  • Advised CDC Group Plc on the acquisition of approximately 10.68% stake in I&M Holdings Limited.
  • Advised NIC Group PLC on the proposed re-organisation of its group structure to result in a structure having a non-operating holding company holding interests in all of NIC’s banking and non-banking subsidiaries.
  • Advised Edifice Limited on the development of Stealth Apartments.
