Nabeelah Kathrada is a senior associate in the Corporate Department of our Johannesburg office, and a member of the Merges and Acquisitions practice.
She specialises in mergers and acquisitions and has advised on various elements of domestic and cross-border transactions (predominantly other African jurisdictions) and other types of commercial matters including drafting general commercial agreements, constitutional documents and legal due diligence investigations. She regularly advises clients on company law and all aspects of company administration and governance.
Nabeelah has been seconded to Glencore/Xstrata and Anglo Gold Ashanti where she assisted with standardization of their template agreements and advised on general corporate issues.
She holds an LLB (cum laude) degree from the University of the Witwatersrand.
- Advised SABMiller plc in respect of the combination of the soft-drink bottling operations of SABMiller, the Coca-Cola Company and Gutsche Family Investments (majority shareholders in Coca-Cola SABCO) in Southern and East Africa to create Coca-Cola Beverages Africa, forming the biggest bottler of soft drinks in Africa and the 10th largest in the world, with annual revenue of USD 2.9 billion.
- Advised Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (Pty) Ltd in relation to the restructuring of its South African operations.
- Advised Appletiser South Africa (Pty) Ltd in the broad-based black economic empowerment transaction involving the acquisition of 21.5% of its shares by African Pioneer Beverages and Sipho Excellent Madlala.
