Overview
Phuti Kgomo is a senior tax advisor in the Corporate Department and a member of the Johannesburg office Tax Practice.
Phuti specialises in corporate tax advisory and M&A. He also provides corporate tax advice on company reorganisations, broad-based black economic (B-BBEE) transactions, debt restructures, share incentive schemes and mineral royalty tax. He has extensive experience in providing due diligence (buy-side and sell-side), structuring and implementation assistance.
Prior to joining Bowmans, Phuti spent over 5 years at two of the “Big Four” audit firms where he worked with local and multi-national clients across multiple sectors including financial services, private equity (PE), manufacturing and mining. His accounting background and current law studies enable him to consider client matter from alternative perspectives and tailor solutions that align with clients’ commercial objectives.
He has a B.Com Accounting degree, Bridging Certificate in Theory of Accounting (BCTA) as well as a B.Com Honours degree in Taxation, all of which were obtained from University of Johannesburg. Phuti is currently studying towards a LLB at the University of South Africa.

- Phuti has advised on the acquisition of KWV by Vasari Global, the acquisition of Kwikot by AB Electrolux as well as the recent acquisition of Astrapak by RPC Plc.
- Drafting and submission of advanced tax rulings to the South Africa Revenue Service (SARS) on share capitalisations, debt restructures, dividend stripping and the tax treatment on other financial instruments for various clients.
