Johannesburg, 18 April 2018: Respected and independent global research organisation, Legal 500, continues to recognise Bowmans’ strength as a leading Pan-African law firm in its Europe, Middle East and Africa Guide released late last week.

Bowmans’ leadership in Africa is highlighted throughout the research feedback. For example, the guide refers to the firm’s Competition team as, “the acknowledged leader in wider Africa and cross-border work” and notes that, “Thanks in part to its strong presence across Africa, Bowmans has a high market share of big-ticket, cross-border and multi-jurisdictional transactions”.

The firm was rated Tier 1 in no fewer than 10 practice areas and recognised in 11 additional practice areas in Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania and Uganda, as well as regionally across Africa. In addition, 17 of its lawyers were recognised as “leading lawyers”.

The Legal 500 assesses the strengths of law firms in over 100 jurisdictions and singles out the practice area teams who are providing the most cutting-edge and innovative advice to corporate counsel. The Legal 500 is an independent guide and makes recommendations purely on merit. Its research is based on feedback from over 300 000 clients which is used to benchmark each law firm against competitors in the practice area in question. The result is a detailed qualitative assessment of various factors, including work conducted; experience and depth of teams; specialisms and ancillary services; and, most importantly, clients’ opinions.

Robert Legh, Bowmans’ chairman and senior partner, comments: “These results are evidence of our market strength and the many talented lawyers we have working across the region who have become trusted advisers to our clients.”
