- Anglo American South Africa, AngloGold Ashanti, Harmony Gold Mining Company, Gold Fields, Sibanye Gold, and African Rainbow Minerals, in a ground-breaking and complex multi-stakeholder facilitation seeking to resolve a class action in the gold mining industry.
- Africa Barrick Gold (now Acacia plc) on numerous regulatory, compliance, environmental and employment law matters affecting Acacia’s group of mines in Tanzania (including Bulyankulu Mine, Buzwagi Mine and North Mara Gold Mining Ltd);
- African Rainbow Minerals on its ZAR 3.5 billion acquisition of the Bokoni Mine in South Africa from Atlatsa Resources and Anglo American Platinum.
- Anglo American Group on developments in climate change and green hydrogen regulation in South Africa as part of its decarbonisation strategy, and in relation to new smart mining projects that Anglo is considering for PGM operations to attain carbon neutrality.
- BHP Billiton in a significant coal industry class action brought on behalf of miners in South Africa.
- Harmony Gold on its USD 300 million acquisition of the Moab Khotsong Mine and related infrastructure from AngloGold Ashanti. (Energy and Natural Resources Deal of the Year, African Legal Awards 2018), and its subsequent ZAR 4.5 billion acquisition of AngloGold’s South African assets and related liabilities and various B-BBEE empowerment transactions (Energy and Natural Resources Deal of the Year, African Legal Awards 2020).
- Impala Bafokeng Platinum and Impala Bafokeng Resources, one of the world’s largest platinum group metal miners, on a complex USD 145 million gold streaming and off-take arrangement with Triple Flag.
- Oron Mine Finance on a USDÂ 200Â million gold and USDÂ 100 million platinum streaming arrangement with Platreef Mine, a subsidiary of listed entity Ivanhoe Mines, for its world-scale palladium-rhodium-platinum-nickel-copper-gold project in Limpopo, South Africa.
- Thungela Resources on environmental and legal compliance audits of its coal operations.
- Vedanta Resources on its, 2023 announced, over USD 1 billion, reinvestment into Konkola Copper Mines in Zambia, one of the world’s richest copper deposits, alongside ZCCM Investments Holdings plc and the Government of the Republic of Zambia.
- Vedanta/ Black Mountain Mining on the establishment of a new smelter (through converting its current operations) at its Skorpion zinc mine in Namibia and the development of a renewable energy project for the generation of 100-150MW to ensure electricity supply to the new smelter.
